Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson was the third US president. Before his presidency he was a major player in the United States gaining independence, a governor, a senator, secretary of state, and Vice president to John Adams. Finally he won the presidency in 1801. Jefferson knew very well where he wanted the nation to head; he himself penned the Declaration of Independence. He was key in coordinating one of the greatest expeditions of all time. Jefferson also changed the way that the Vice President is chosen. Fifteen states in the U.S. owe their existence to him. He oversaw the implementation of important foreign policy. He was an influential president whose policies are still in effect today.
